One question matters more than every other question on this page, so it goes first. If the alarm did not ring, work down section 1 in order. Everything else is below it.
01 The alarm did not ring
Work down this list in order. Steps 1 to 5 explain almost every case, and steps 1, 2 and 3 explain most of them. Then write to us with what you found, because we would rather hear about it than not.
-
Was the alarm on, and set for the day you expected?
Open the Home tab. The hero card at the top names the next alarm and when it will fire. If it says a day you did not expect, the repeat days or the time were not what you thought. A one-time alarm switches itself off after it fires.
-
Was the phone off, or the battery flat?
No app on iOS can ring from a phone that is switched off or out of battery. Nothing recovers that, and no alarm app can claim otherwise. If the phone was off, this is the answer.
-
Check alarm permission.
MissionAlarm needs permission to schedule system alarms. If that permission was revoked after you set the alarm, the alarm does not fire. The app shows a red "Alarms will not ring" banner on the Home screen when this happens — if you see it, tap it and grant permission again. Full instructions are in section 2.
The app will not let you save an alarm without this permission, so if you were able to save it, permission was granted at that moment. A later revoke is the usual cause.
-
Was the app deleted, or the phone restored or replaced?
Alarms are stored on the device. Deleting the app removes them, and this version has no cloud backup, so they do not come back on a new phone. Restore Purchases brings Pro back; it does not bring your alarms back.
-
Could you hear it, or did it ring quietly?
MissionAlarm rings through Apple's alarm system, the same one the built-in Clock app uses, so it rings through silent mode and Do Not Disturb at your system alarm volume. iOS gives apps no way to read or change that volume, so we cannot show you a level or set it for you — anyone claiming otherwise is guessing.
Check it yourself in the iOS Settings app, under Sounds & Haptics, using the ringer and alerts slider. On iOS 27 alarms have their own separate slider there. Then use "Hear it now" in the alarm editor: it fires a real alarm about ten seconds later so you can hear the actual volume in the actual room before you trust it tomorrow.
-
Was it stopped while you were half asleep?
Apple's Lock Screen alert carries a slide-to-stop control that is part of iOS. We cannot remove it, move it or relabel it, and sliding it is a real stop. It happens, and it is usually invisible to the person it happened to.
Open the Streak tab and look at recent mornings. A morning that was stopped without the mission is logged and drawn as unfinished, so the log will tell you whether the alarm rang and was stopped, or never rang at all. That single detail changes the answer completely, so check it before writing to us.

Still unexplained? Send us this.
Write to support@missionalarm.app with: your iPhone model, your iOS version, the exact time the alarm was set for and the time zone you were in, whether the red banner is showing on Home, what the Streak tab says about that morning, and whether the phone was locked, charging, or in Low Power Mode. Alarm bugs are the only bugs in this app that really matter, and that list is what lets us chase one.
Where waking up is genuinely critical — a flight, a shift, medication, someone depending on you — set a second, independent alarm. That is true of every alarm app on every phone, including this one, and we would rather say it than have you find out.
02 Checking alarm permission
- Open the iOS Settings app.
- Find MissionAlarm. On iOS 26 the per-app settings live under Apps, so it is Settings › Apps › MissionAlarm.
- Make sure the alarm permission is allowed. If it is off, turn it on.
- Reopen MissionAlarm. The red banner on the Home screen should be gone. If it is not, open any alarm and re-save it.
While you are there: camera should be allowed if you use the push-up, object hunt or AI photo missions, and notifications are only needed if you turned the evening reminder on. Nothing else is required.
03 Why iOS 26.1 is required
MissionAlarm uses Apple's AlarmKit, the system that lets an app ring the way the built-in Clock does. It arrived in iOS 26, but custom alarm sounds do not loop correctly below iOS 26.1 — the sound plays once and stops. Rather than ship an alarm that goes quiet after one pass on some phones, we set the floor at 26.1 and lose the installs below it.
To check: iOS Settings › General › About › iOS Version. To update: Settings › General › Software Update. If your iPhone cannot run iOS 26.1, MissionAlarm cannot run on it, and we would rather tell you that here than sell it to you first.
04 What the app asks for, and why
| Permission | Why | When it is asked |
|---|---|---|
| Alarms | To ring through Apple's alarm system, so the alarm comes through silent mode and Do Not Disturb at your system alarm volume. | During onboarding, after our own explanation. |
| Camera | To count push-ups live on the device, and to take mission photos you choose to submit. One grant covers both. | During onboarding, before the sofa preview. |
| Notifications | Only for the optional evening reminder and the trial-ending notice. Both are scheduled on your device; there is no push server. | Only if you switch the evening reminder on. |
MissionAlarm asks for no microphone access, no photo-library access, no location and no contacts. It never records audio, and it never reads your saved photos.
05 Restoring a purchase
There is no account with us, so a purchase lives against your Apple Account. To bring Pro back after a reinstall or on a new iPhone:
- Sign in to the same Apple Account you bought with.
- Open MissionAlarm › Settings tab › Restore purchases. The link is near the top, and it is also on the paywall.
- Wait for the store to answer. Pro features unlock as soon as it does.
If nothing restores, check that you are signed in to the right Apple Account, that you are online, and that the purchase went through at all (Settings › your name › Media & Purchases › Purchase History, or reportaproblem.apple.com). If it still will not restore, write to support@missionalarm.app.
Restore brings back your purchase, not your data. Alarms, streak and morning history stay on the device they were made on in this version. Export them first from the Streak tab if you are moving phone.
06 Cancelling a subscription
Cancelling happens in your App Store subscription settings. No app on iOS can cancel a subscription for you, and none can make a cancellation take effect immediately — only Apple's own sheet can, with its own confirmation.
The real path:
- Open the iOS Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Choose MissionAlarm.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
The app's Settings screen has a Manage subscription row that opens the same Apple screen, so you do not have to go looking for it. There is no discount offer thrown in the way and no "are you sure" chain.
What happens next: auto-renew turns off, and Pro stays on until the end of the period you already paid for. The app reads that from the store and shows the date rather than guessing. Cancelling never touches your streak, your history or your alarms — the alarm and the four on-device missions are free, so the app keeps working exactly as before with the Pro extras switched off.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, or Apple will have already taken the next payment. If you are on a trial, the same 24-hour rule applies to the end of the trial. Lifetime has nothing to cancel — it is a one-time purchase and it does not renew. Refunds are Apple's to give: reportaproblem.apple.com.
07 How the free AI allowance works
The AI photo missions — make your bed, touch grass, find a pet — are the only feature that sends anything off your phone. Every install gets three successful AI verifications, ever, before anything is asked of you.
- Only a pass spends one. A failed check, a timeout, a rate limit, a lost connection or a retry costs you nothing, ever. A broken check can never eat a free morning and then ask you for money.
- The allowance is checked when you set the alarm, in the alarm editor, while you are awake. It is never checked while an alarm is ringing.
- The paywall never appears during an alarm. If you already scheduled an AI mission and the allowance is gone, that morning runs the physical fallback you chose, with no price anywhere on the screen.
- Pro is up to 10 verifications a day. That number is printed on the paywall rather than hidden in a limiter.
- The remaining count is shown in the alarm editor and in Settings.
What the photo does: it is resized and re-encoded on your device, which strips its EXIF metadata, then sent to our endpoint and on to our AI provider to judge. We do not keep it. The provider retains API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days, longer only if flagged for safety review, and does not train on them. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy, and you have to agree to it once before the first photo is ever taken.
If you would rather nothing left your phone at all: push-ups, shake, math and the object hunt never transmit anything, they are free forever, and the object hunt works with no signal.
08 A mission will not pass me
Push-ups: the counter is not counting
- Get your whole body in the frame. Front camera flat on the floor, phone an arm's length away, angled so your shoulders and elbows are visible.
- Watch the confidence meter. If it sits low, the app tells you what is wrong — move back, improve the light, get your full body in frame.
- A rep counts on a full range: down past a bent elbow, back up to nearly straight. Half reps are deliberately not counted.
- The + and − buttons are always there and always work, whatever the camera thinks. A miscount is never allowed to trap you.
- If the camera is unavailable or permission was denied, the app swaps you to math in one tap and logs it as a full completion, not a skip.
Object hunt: it will not recognise the object
- Get the whole thing in the frame, with the room around it. Do not get closer — tighter framing measures worse, because the classifier reads the surroundings too.
- A shot dominated by a bed is rejected when the object belongs to another room. That is deliberate: the mission is for getting out of bed.
- You get one free re-roll per morning: "Give me a different object". A second miss, or 45 seconds on the same object, offers a swap to a free physical mission instead.
- To retire an object permanently, do it in Settings › object pool, not while an alarm is going off.
- This mission runs entirely on your phone with no network, so it cannot fail because our server is down.
AI photo: it keeps failing me
- Read the one-line reason it gives. It is usually specific: the sheets, the pillow, no sky in frame.
- Better light and a wider shot help more than a closer one.
- Every failure carries a one-tap "Finish with math instead". Taking it is a full completion: your streak is intact and your morning card is generated. It is logged as our failure, not your skip.
- Failures never spend your free allowance.
09 I cannot do the mission right now
There is always a way out and it does not cost your streak. On every mission, on every branch, whether you are free, Pro, lapsed or offline, there is a labelled "Can't do this mission?" button from the first second.
- Press and hold it for three seconds.
- A confirmation sheet appears: "Stop the alarm without the mission? Your streak is safe. We will not ring again this morning."
- Tap Stop alarm. That is a real stop: the queued backup alarm is cancelled too, so nothing comes back a minute later.
With VoiceOver, the same button carries a custom action, "Skip mission", that goes straight to the confirmation sheet with no hold at all.
Two related things worth knowing. If you stop the alarm from the Lock Screen instead, you get a five-minute grace window — finish the mission inside it and the morning still counts, with nothing on that screen scolding you. And if you leave the mission screen without finishing, the alarm comes back in about a minute, up to five times. That is printed on the screen while you are looking at it, not sprung on you.
10 Deleting your data and withdrawing AI consent
- Settings › Delete my data removes your alarms, your morning log, your streak, your morning cards, your onboarding answers and the app's identifiers from the device. It does not cancel a subscription — do that in your App Store subscription settings, per section 6.
- Settings › Withdraw AI consent stops any further photo being sent, and the physical missions carry on as normal.
- Streak tab › Export my history gives you a copy of your own data before you delete anything, or before you change phone.

Email support@missionalarm.app.
GlitchedLab is small, so replies are not instant — but every message is read by a person, and an alarm that did not ring goes to the front of the queue. If that is what you are writing about, include the details listed in section 1, step 7; it is the difference between us guessing and us fixing it.
